  What is Alpha?

Alpha is a course for people wanting to know more about Christianity in a non-threatening, informal environment. Have you ever asked:

  • What is the point of life? What happens when we die?
  • What relevance does Jesus have for our lives today?
  • How do we deal with guilt?

Alpha attempts to answer these questions (and many more!) It was created by Nicky Gumbel from Holy Trinity Church Brompton, and has since been run successfully at many other churches nationwide. It has enjoyed wide-scale publicity as well as a television series.

How can I find out more?

For more detailed information about Alpha, you can visit their website.
It's at http://www.alpha.org.uk

   What happens at Alpha?

1 - Food!
Alpha always begins with eating!.

2 - Talk
There is a short talk on one of 14 topics. These include 'Who is Jesus?', 'Why did Jesus die?', 'Why and how should I read the Bible' and 'Does God heal today?'

3 - Small groups
After a short break for more refreshments, we split into smaller groups to discuss the main topic. This is also a great time to meet new people, make friends, share thoughts and ideas and ask any questions you may have.

   When's the next course?

We are currently running a joint course with the Oaks Community Church which started on Tuesday 23 September at The Oaks Bookshop, Elm Farm Road, Aylesbury. Our next course will be in 2009. For more information, please email or ring the church office on 01296 424400.
