Gift Aid

Gift Aid is a provision in UK tax legislation that permits charities to reclaim a tax 'top up' on the gifts it receives from donors who are UK tax payers i.e. some of the tax you pay from your income to government can be redirected to charities in the form of a relief.

This is good news for you and for us. As a registered charity, your gifts are worth even more to us. Based on current legislation, the Church can reclaim £28 for every £100 given (this being the amount of tax at basic rate that you have paid on the money you are giving).

As you can imagine, Gift Aid provides a significant increase in the church's income and therefore a significant increase in our ability and resources to do real ministry.

As a charity, we are required to keep detailed records of all the gifts we receive, and in particular, for Gift Aid, we are required to maintain information about donors so that our tax reclaims can be tied up with the tax records of individuals at HM Revenue and Customs. To make things simple, regular donors can complete a Gift Aid declaration that covers all your giving. Once completed, we just need to be able to identify your gift by donor name (whether by standing order or using the envelope scheme).

If you are a UK taxpayer and are giving (whether as a one off or regularly), please would you seriously consider completing and returning a Gift Aid Declaration.
