After nearly 5 months, the live worship CD from Soul Survivor / Momentum 2009 has finally hit the shelves. 'Not Ashamed' is a collection of the best songs from this year's event at Shepton Mallet. It's a polished performance, and while you often struggle to hear the 'live' element, the recording still manages to retain the energy and spirit of the original sound.
The songs of 2009 came mainly from two songwriters: Phil Wickham and Ben Cantelon.
Cannons and Because of Your Love are two of the best of Wickham's recent releases, and the band recreate them faithfully and enthusiastically. You're Beautiful was one of the most enjoyed songs at Soul Survivor; this recording manages to recreate the passion and excitement of the crowd.
Ben Cantelon's songs are all to be found on his newest CD 'Running After You' - and sound brilliant. Not Ashamed (the title track) is an anthemic declaration that clearly captures the moment: 'Oh no we won’t stay silent / We’ll shout it out from the rooftops singing / We're not ashamed, we’re not ashamed of You, Jesus'
Remain is lifted into the limelight with an improved groove from the studio recording, while the massive dynamics of Coming Back are enthusiatically enjoyed by the crowd.
If you were there, a must-buy. If you weren't, it's well worth a listen, if only to know what you're missing out on!! |

They did it! And survived! Well done to Ashleigh, Emily, Claire, Michelle, Lucy and Liz who ran an incredible 10k for Thembalitsha on a very hot Saturday in London. The money raised will go to support the work Tim and Maz are doing in South Africa. There's more information about Thembalitsha, or you can still sponsor them via JustGiving for a few more days. |
